Procrastinating? Try the Ten-Minute Triumph. The beauty of the Ten- Minute Triumph is that it is do-able. I wrote about this in a blog post seven years ago.
It is still just as powerful because ….anyone can manage ten minutes out of their day to focus on a task and put everything else on hold for ten minutes. The secret to this has two dimensions. Uninterrupted ten minutes over just three days accomplishes a lot. We see the accomplishment and it motivates us to complete the task. Secondly, often, when we push ourselves for ten minutes, we want to keep going and spend even more time on the task…woops! I wasn’t supposed to say that. Part of your brain cannot know that because when we are in the space of procrastinating, we believe that we do not have time to do this particular task or exercise. The brain needs to know that the task won’t take longer than 10 minutes.See my pile of filing? I have been procrastinating for over a month in dealing with it. I am going to apply The Ten-Minute Triumph today and see how long it takes me to complete it. How about you?

You’re tip got me motivated enough to cut and lay the linoleum for the kitchen, the jobs not complete but it’s at least started
Good for you! Every huge project begins with the first ten minutes effort.
Yes, I have applied this practise after first hearing about it from you! I needed to be reminded of it again and encouraged to follow through with it on certain small projects—thanks so much for spurring me on !
Good to know that this principle helped you Shelley. That encourages me!–Karen
