COME UP FOR AIR
Look back on what you have accomplished as well as what you are in the process of achieving. Sometimes we need to take a breather and come up for air.
GOALS ARE A MUST
Goals are a must to achieve success. We need to continually lay out strategy steps that lead to achieving those goals. But sometimes we need to goal-pause. As our season of life changes so do our goal priorities change and evolve. Even retired seniors need goals and strategy if they want to do more than eat, turn on the TV and sleep. However, there is a recharging factor in goal- pausing and taking time to look back on what you have accomplished. (coming up for air)
TAKE AN ASSESSMENT
Take an assessment of the past 3-6 months of your journey. It can lead to refreshment. Celebrate all you can think of that has come your way. Celebrate all the goals that you have written down and moved forward on; all the goals you have accomplished. This action brings about a positive outlook on life. It brings about confidence in what skills you have used. Subsequently, looking back on what you have accomplished brings refreshment and re-charges your energy level.
PERSONAL ILLUSTRATION
I came up for air and looked back and noted that in the last 5 months I :
- saved enough money to travel to Philippines in 2019
- traveled to the Philippines in November to see my daughter
- presented my daughter’s mission to 7 groups
- blog posted 12X in the last 12 weeks
- saved 1/6 of my total goal money for another trip
- shared my faith with an interested person
- have written down and strategized for 6 more goals
All of the above were goals that I wrote down and now I see that they have been achieved.
CELEBRATION
And I just celebrated!! Use celebration for small and large victories. In every coaching session I ask my clients how they are going to celebrate some small success they have been strategizing over. Consequently, they often laugh. I hear their query, “Over this one little step?” I say, “Absolutely!”
Consistent completion of little steps lead to huge success. All huge success has been led by small steps. So I ask again, “How will you celebrate this small accomplishment?” After they tell me I then ask , “How do you think you will celebrate the final goal in this project/issue?” I thoroughly enjoy hearing them hatch a plan of celebration. As a result, it often motivates more creativity in their entire plan. I believe in celebrating the small successes along the way and in addition, personal energy gets a re-charge.
CELEBRATION HELPS SUCCESS MULTIPLY
The more celebrations of true accomplishments(no matter the size); the more realization of success. And…
The more success; the more motivation. And….
The more motivation; the more goal setting. And…
The more goal setting; the more accomplishments. And…
The more accomplishments; the more celebrations, . And….
on and on. As a result, success multiplies.
THEREFORE, COME UP FOR AIR AND LOOK BACK ON WHAT YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED!
